Lower Yosemite Falls, falls from Upper Yosemite Falls. Doesn’t it make perfect sense? Why it’s not just called Yosemite Falls, is beyond me. Perhaps it is and I’ve simply been calling it Upper and Lower my whole life never knowing for sure if I’m right. Wait just give me a minute. OK I just looked it up and it turns out that I’ve been RIGHT all these years. At least that is what the official map from the National Park Service calls them.
Well here’s something I didn’t know when I took this image. Trees can grow from Mist. Of course they need sunlight as well and nutrients, etc. etc. But this little unknown fact allowed for this stunning image. I’d seen these sets of cedars years before – I even took a snap of them. But that one pales in comparison to this one.
If you visit Yosemite you can easily find these amazing trees, which grow in the mist shadow that is the base of Lower Yosemite Falls to the right hand side not more than fifty yards I’d guess.
This little grove of cedars is eerily peaceful even though they sit right next to the falls. Perhaps you too can visit this spot during the many different times of the year and find peace as well.
