Amaranth Labs, in Boulder Colorado, is where I had taken my film to be processed since I didn't have my darkroom set up at the time. They are a well respected local firm specializing in custom processing and printing. In their black and white area there is a fellow who says he knew Ansel and had personally worked with him.
When I went to pick up my film there was a note attached saying that he wanted to speak with me. Knowing of him, but having never spoken to him, I was a bit nervous. He came out and began to tell me that this negative was the best he'd seen in years, and that Ansel would have appreciated it. And, that if I would consider it, he would love the chance to print the negative.
Well, I was flattered and of course let him. His final print looked great! I had to change a few things for my own personal tastes when I printed it myself, of course, but was thrilled by the experience of it all. To be compared to Ansel, by someone who knew him, wow!
